Danish wind power manufacturer Vestas will supply turbines totalling 51.8MW for Powerica’s wind farm projects in the Indian state of Gujarat. The company has signed two contracts to deliver 25 of its V100-2.0MW and one V100-1.8MW turbine for India’s Jangi and Charbara wind farm projects.

The contract will see Vestas supply, install and commission its turbines for the two wind farm projects. The 21.8MW Jangi wind farm is expected to be complete in July 2014, while the 30MW Charbara project is scheduled for completion in March 2015.

Danny Nielsen, acting president of Vestas Asia Pacific and China, said: “We are glad that our customers in India see Vestas as a trusted partner. With more than 30 years of experience pioneering the wind industry, we are confident we will provide maximised performance and return on investment to Powerica in these projects.”

According to Vestas, the V100-1.8/2.0MW IEC IIIA/IIB wind turbines are suitable for low and medium wind sites. The wind turbines, which have a rotor diameter of 100m, are available with hub heights ranging from 80m to 120m. The turbines also feature advanced OCAS 3D radar technology and YAW power backup.

Naresh Oberoi, chairman of Powerica, said, about its latest turbine deal: “We are the best in our business and hence it is natural for us to be associated with the best in the wind industry, too. Vestas is a good partner to work with and the experience is more than excellent.”

The news from Vestas follows on from the Danish company signing a contract to deliver its V100-2.0MW wind turbines totalling 48MW for a wind farm project in China in September last year.
