French hydro tech leader Alstom has inaugurated its largest hydropower industrial site in Tianjin, China. The world leading hydropower equipment supplier and service provider said the EUR 100m facility represents a "key milestone" for Alstom's hydro developments in the BRIC country.

A run-of-river hydropower project is being developed in the UK to start operating next year. The 300kW installation, which will be built on the Afon Cadair river in Wales, is expected to generate an average of 1,300MWh of electricity per year, providing power for up to 300 households.
A Swiss energy company has completed a turnkey hydro power project in India. Alstom has achieved the synchronization and full load of three 77 MW units at the Chamera III hydro plant, which has been built on the river Ravi in Himachal Pradesh.
