Welspun Energy wins MNRE solar power developers award

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy selects India’s Welspun for award for completing 5MW solar power project ahead of deadline

India's renewable energy project developer Welspun Energy has won a key award for its developments in solar power. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has chosen Welspun Energy for its 'Solar Power Developers' award, which is given to companies for their ability to carry out solar power projects in India quickly and successfully.

Hon'ble Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh gave the award to Mr Vineet Mittal, co-founder and Welspun Energy MD for being the first to commission a 5MW solar power project in Andhra Pradesh under JNNSM Phase-I Batch-I. The 5MW solar power project, which was set up at Pulivendula, District-YSR, AP was commissioned in December 2011.

The Solar Power Developers award was given to Welspun Energy for the company's ability to commission projects well in advance to the set deadline. The award function is part of the Solar Power Developers Meet organised by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy in India.

Union Minister, MNRE, Farooq Abdullah, said: "I congratulate the entire team of Welspun Energy for their achievement. I'm happy to note that private solar power developers across the nation have started completing their projects well ahead in time, which is helping the government achieve its renewable energy target within the set deadline."
