Premier Solar and New Generation Power team up for 315MW solar farms in India

Indian solar power company collaborates with US renewable energy firm to set up largest India solar project with investment of around USD 400m

The development project will be the largest addition to solar power in India

Indian solar energy company Premier Solar and US-based renewable energy company New Generation Power have teamed up to develop 315MW of solar farms in Southeastern India. With an investment of approximately USD 400m, the project will be the largest solar power development in India. It will be part of state Andhra Pradesh’s Solar Scheme, which aims to build 1,000MW renewable energy capacity.

Karthik Polsani, CEO at Premier Solar, said: “Premier Solar is proud to have won this large contract and partner with New Generation Power, on the largest solar development project in India. Premier will bring its project development and execution skills to get the project off the ground and ensure timely completion.”

The installation of solar farms which is scheduled for completion by 2014 will be executed in phases. The initial phase comprises installation of 70MW solar farms at 14 locations across Andhra Pradesh. Premier Solar and WAAREE Energies, an Indian renewable energy technology and project development company, will jointly function as the EPC contractor for the initial phase.

WAAREE, the EPC contractor for installation of 245MW solar farms, will join up with Patriot Solar Group for setting up a manufacturing facility in Gujarat to cater for the 315MW solar farms.
