German metals and technology group Heraeus has revealed it will announce a production site to manufacture PV metallisation pastes in Asia at the SNEC event in China this month. The Heraeus Photovoltaics Business Unit, a silver metallisation paste manufacturer for the PV industry, has said it will reveal details of the new Asia-based production site at China’s SNEC International Photovoltaic Power Generation conference in Shanghai later this month.

Heraeus, which is headquartered in Hanau, Germany, said the production site will manufacture its front-side metallisation pastes and be operating before the end of 2014.

The PV arm of Heraeus said it will also highlight a series of new metallisation pastes at the SNEC event. This includes the introduction of its front-side metallisation pastes, SOL9620 and SOL9621. It will also announce a record cell efficiency performance from the use of its Heraeus PERC pastes.

Andreas Liebheit, global manager of the Heraeus Photovoltaics Business Unit, said: “Since the SNEC 2013, we have successfully integrated an acquisition into the PV Business Unit, developed two new front-side pastes that we believe will be industry leading for Ultra-LDE c-Si cells, and we will have a new manufacturing site in Asia before the end of the year.

"We view SNEC as the key annual event for the PV industry and we are excited that it coincides with a couple of major announcement that we have for the PV industry,” Liebheit said.

Heraeus has invested in developing the company in China over the last year. The German PV paste firm upgraded its Shanghai solar lab in May 2013.

The SNEC International Photovoltaic Power Generation conference and exhibition take place at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre on 20 to 22 May.
