GCL-Poly said the wafer supply agreement will allow it to deliver advanced PV products at a low cost

Chinese PV manufacturer GCL-Poly has signed a 4GW wafer supply deal with Taiwan firms Neo Solar Power Corporation and Topcell Solar International Corporation. GCL-Poly, which has headquarters in Shanghai, has announced it has signed long-term contracts to supply its PV wafers to solar cell manufacturers Neo Solar Power Corporation based in Hsinchu and Topcell Solar International Corporation in Taoyuan County, Taiwan.

The PV supply agreements signed are a three-year contract with Neo Solar Power Corporation and a two-year contract with Topcell Solar International Corporation. According to the agreements, Neo Solar Power and Topcell Solar International will purchase approximately 4GW of GLC-Poly S2 and S3 wafer products during the contractual period.

Shu Hua, GCL-Poly executive president, said the agreement will allow the company continue to deliver advanced PV products at a low cost and promote healthy development of the solar sector.

Hua said: “GCL-Poly is pleased to continue our long-term cooperation with solar industry leaders in Taiwan, such as TSI and NSP. Leveraging on our economy of scale, we will continue to deliver advanced products at lower cost to our long-term strategic partners. We are confident that by working with our partners closely, we will be able to promote stable and healthy development of the global solar industry.”

GCL-Poly has been involved in work to help advance PV production over the last few years. This includes entering into an agreement with Yingli Green Energy to improve the PV supply chain by improving quality and reducing production costs.
