Chinese firm GCL-Poly has signed contracts to supply high-efficiency PV totalling 9.3GW to four solar companies in China over the next two years. GCL-Poly, which is a photovoltaic manufacturer based in Shanghai, has signed the long-term high-efficiency PV supply contracts with firms Jinko Solar, GD Solar, Tongwei Solar and Hareon Solar.

According to the agreements, GCL-Poly will supply approximately 9.3GW of high efficiency PV wafers and polysilicon materials to Jinko Solar, GD Solar, Tongwei Solar and Hareon Solar between 2014 and 2016.

GCL-Poly said the firm will cooperate with the four companies in the areas of R&D and supply chain management.

GCL-Poly executive president Shu Hua, said, co-operating with the solar manufacturers will maximise PV efficiency of its products and help further promote global advancement in green energy.

Hua said: “As the world’s leading polysilicon and high efficiency wafer producer, GCL has strong technological capabilities and market influence.

“We are pleased to co-operate with these leading solar manufacturers to

maximise the efficiency of solar products. We will continue to work with our best customers to further promote the global advancement of green energy,” he said.

The news from GCL-Poly follows the Chinese PV manufacturer signing a 4GW PV wafer supply deal with solar firms in Taiwan in February this year. GCL-Poly signed long-term contracts to supply its PV wafers to solar cell manufacturers Neo Solar Power Corporation, based in Hsinchu, and Topcell Solar International Corporation, in Taoyuan County, Taiwan.
