A Chinese firm has won a contract to supply technology to a major US solar project in California. The agreement is Centinela Solar Energy’s largest ever supply deal.
Leading solar energy company Yingli Green will supply PV modules for a 200MW mega project in Imperial County, California. The plant is due to start operating commercially in the middle of 2014.
The company was selected by Centinela Solar Energy as part of a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with San Diego Gas and Electric.
Mathew Sachs, Yingli Americas' Director of Business Development said, "Yingli Americas has methodically established itself as the partner of choice for utility-scale projects across the US.
By establishing a superior process to address both the commercial and technical hurdles such projects present, we are extremely confident in our ability to execute such mega projects.”
