Vard Holdings Ltd, a global designer and shipbuilder of offshore and specialised vessels, has secured a new contract for the design and construction of one platform supply vessel (PSV) for Carlotta Offshore Ltd.
The vessel is a multifunctional PSV of the Vard 1 08 design, with a total length of 81 metres, beam of 18 metres and a cargo deck area of 830 square metres. The vessel of approximately 4,000 dead weight tonnes will be prepared for standby, rescue, fire-fighting and oil recovery operations. Delivery is scheduled from Vard Vung Tau, in Vietnam, in the second quarter of 2015.
A spokesperson from Vard said the company “is pleased to see Carlotta Offshore place their second order with Vard Vung Tau, extending the order book for that yard”.
The Vard 1-Series comprises a wide range of platform supply vessels designed by Vard Design in Ålesund, Norway. The vessels are intended to have a high focus on cargo capacity and excellent manoeuvring capabilities, combined with low fuel consumption.
Vard Holdings Ltd, together with its subsidiaries, designs and builds offshore and specialised vessels used in the offshore oil and gas exploration, and production and oil services industries. Headquartered in Norway and with 10,000 employees, Vard operates 10 strategically located shipbuilding facilities, including five in Norway, two in Romania, two in Brazil and one in Vietnam.
Other recent marine news from Vard concerns a contract with France’s Bourbon, for the design and construction of one Arctic anchor-handling tug supply vessel. The vessel will have a total length of 93.6 metres and a beam of 24 metres, with a bollard pull of approximately 270 tonnes.
